Infrastructure Works

AKN are experienced in several contracting methods commonly used in construction
projects. AKN has in house Legal capability and experience to deal with JCT and NEC forms
of contracting.

Traditional (or Lump Sum) Contracting: This is the most common contracting method also
known as the ‘traditional’ or ‘lump sum’ method. Under this method, the AKN agrees to
construct the project for a fixed price based on the design drawings and specifications
provided by the client.

AKN is responsible for obtaining all necessary permits and approvals,
hiring subcontractors, and completing the project within the agreed-upon timeframe.

Design and Build Contracting: In this method, the client contracts with AKN as a single
entity, typically as a design and build contractor, to both design and construct the project.
This method is often used when the client has limited expertise in construction or when the
project is complex and requires an integrated approach to design and construction. This
may involve the novation of contracts from professional services organisations and the
execution of collateral warranties.

Management Contracting: This method involves the client appointing AKN as management
contractor to manage the construction process. AKN acts as an advisor to the client,
overseeing the work of multiple contractors and subcontractors to ensure the project is
completed on time and within budget. AKN charges a fee for these services only.

Projects

AKN are specialists in retail fuel operations where the critical infrastructure for the
transportation industry needs to be maintained and refreshed to ensure it continues to
operate safely and efficiently. Here are a few examples of construction and refresh projects
on fuel stations:

Installing new fuel dispensers and fuel lines: As fuel dispensers age or become outdated,
they may need to be replaced with new ones that have modern features and meet current
safety and environmental standards.

Management and upgrade of the fuel storage system: Fuel storage systems are typically
underground and can deteriorate over time. Upgrading the fuel storage system can help
ensure compliance with environmental regulations and prevent leaks. AKN has several
project-based solutions to extend the life of fuel infrastructure.

Jet wash facilities: It is important to follow all relevant regulations and guidelines for the
installation of a car jet wash, as well as obtain any necessary permits or approvals. AKN are
proven professionals who have vast experience in the installation of car jet washes
guaranteeing that the installation is done correctly and safely.

Refreshing the convenience store: Many fuel stations have convenience stores that sell
food, drinks, and other items. As an integral revenue and profit stream refreshing the
convenience store will help attract customers and improve the overall appearance of the
fuel station.

Adding electric vehicle charging stations: As electric vehicles become more common, adding
charging stations to fuel stations can help attract customers and provide a new revenue
stream for the business.

These are just a few examples of construction and refresh projects that AKN has significant
history and experience of on retail fuel stations. It is important to work with professionals
who have experience in the fuel station industry to ensure that all projects are done safely
and in compliance with relevant regulations.

Modular Building Works

Modular building, also known as prefabricated or offsite construction, involves the creation
of building modules in a factory setting, which are then transported to the building site and
assembled into the final structure. This method of construction offers a number of
advantages over traditional construction methods, including speed of construction, cost-
effectiveness, and improved quality control.

Modular building works by breaking a building down into individual components, such as
walls, floors, and roofs, which are then prefabricated in a factory setting. These components are typically built using advanced manufacturing techniques, such as automated cutting and
welding, which ensures a high degree of accuracy and consistency.

Once the components are completed, they are transported to the building site and
assembled into the final structure. This process can be completed much more quickly than
traditional construction methods, as much of the work is done offsite, which reduces the
amount of time needed for on-site construction.

Modular building is also more cost-effective than traditional construction, as it reduces the
amount of waste generated during construction and allows for better control over costs.
Additionally, the use of factory-made components reduces the amount of labour needed on
site, which can lead to further cost savings.

Overall, modular building is a highly effective and efficient method of construction that
offers a number of benefits over traditional construction methods. As a result, it is
becoming an increasingly popular choice for a wide range of building projects, from
residential homes to commercial buildings and even skyscrapers. AKN are specialists in all
the enabling works for a modular build and completing complex integrations in schools,
hospitals and temporary facilities.

distance you drive daily to determine your charging needs. This will help you choose the
right EV charger for your needs.

Choose the right charger: There are different types of EV chargers. Each type has different
power output and charging times. AKN can help you choose the charger that suits your
needs and budget.

Choose the installation location: AKN will determine the best location to install your EV
charger. We will consider the distance from your electric panel, proximity to your EV parking
area, and accessibility to the charger.

wired, and connected to the electrical panel.

Test the system: Once the installation is complete, AKN test the system to ensure it is
functioning correctly. Making sure that the charging cable is securely attached to the EV and
the charger.

It is important to note that the installation process may vary depending on the type of EV
